General Process
1) After contacting Grassmeyer Design and obtaining an estimate or “fixed” price quote, you select Grassmeyer Design for your design project. See "pricing" for more information.
2) Before we begin a project, down payment is due. We will send you a short questionnaire for you to fill out so we can learn more about who you are and all the details about your project.
3) You send us back the completed questionnaire. We take time to understand your vision for the project and take into account your target market and other business objectives. We brainstorm, sketch, and finally create a unique look and feel for your project.
4) We send you our design concept(s). You tell us which concept you like best, and how you would like to see it evolve into the final design. Depending on your project, there will be 3 or more rounds of revisions.
5) We design a final concepts that suits your needs and exceeds all your expectations.
6) You pay us the remaining amount due for your project.
7) Once we have received final payment, we will send you the final design in the appropriate file formats. If you would like hard copies (laser printouts), or a CD with your files, we will provide that as well for a small fee to cover materials and shipping.
Custom CubeCart™ Process
1) Brain storming: Outstanding creative work requires good, complete input from our clients. So if you have any examples of websites that you like the looks of, either in style or colors, or layout-- we would love to hear those ideas. Before we begin with a custom skin project, we engage in some dialog with the potential client to make sure we understand their needs, wants, and expectations for the project. If you're not sure what you want, check out our portfolio or the templates at templatemonster.com and note which designs you like best. These would be good examples to begin discussion.
2) Payment: Once a loose outline and "plan" has been agreed to, we send an invoice, once that is paid we start creating the layout proposal. We are pretty firm on this unless the project is over $500, then we will allow 50% to begin and 50% upon approval of the layout proposal.
3) Layout Proposal: A layout proposal is an image that shows what the finished skin will look like. This usually takes 1 or 2 days, but could be longer if your design requires any illustration or complex graphics. We present you with the layout proposal and you give us your comments, suggestions and changes. All changes to the skin design need to be made at this stage and not once we are in the coding stage.
4) Proposal Acceptance & Coding: After you have accepted the layout proposal we get to work on converting the design to code and integrating it with Cube Cart.
5) Testing and Fine Tuning: It takes us a couple of days to get a solid working skin ready for testing. We prefer to work on your site so that when the skin design is complete, there is nothing further that you need to do, you just enjoy your new skin. But if you have current customers that you don't want disturbed while the site is updated we can work on a demo store instead. During the testing phase we will test the skin in several browsers to ensure that it is displaying properly. We also ask that you navigate your store and alert us of anything that isn't working properly or displaying strangely.
Deadlines & Timelines & Payment: When you contact us please let us know if you have a deadline in mind, we are usually about 2-4 weeks out from being able to start new projects. To secure your spot on our schedule you must pre-pay in full or deposit 50% down, the remainder is due the day we begin the project- unless the amount is over $500 (at that amount we will work up a payment schedule that works best for you). Our schedule fills up very quickly so contact us as early as possible. Projects are usually able to be completed within one or two weeks.
Ballpark Pricing: Custom skins begin at $100 for skins where we begin with a cleanly coded css template. Clean tableless code is a must for this pricing, any code that need to be cleaned or is in table form will be priced higher. Skins where I am starting with a layered Photoshop document will start at $150, flattened graphics or pieces and parts will be priced higher. Skins where I start from scratch are $200+ and pricing depends on complexity of the design required.
